Irish maternity benefits among lowest in Europe
10/05/2006 - 13:33:57Ireland has one of the lowest State maternity benefits in Europe, according to Mercer Consulting.
The company's survey found that women who give birth in Ireland get less benefit entitlements than those in some eastern European countries.
In Ireland, the total benefit accumulated over six months of maternity leave is €5,800, compared to €11,000 in Denmark and Norway.
