Cruise ship towed into Southampton following fire
06/05/2006 - 14:51:48A cruise ship carrying more than seven hundred people is being towed into the British port of Southampton after a fire.
The blaze started on board the Calypso as she drifted just off the Sussex coast early this morning. No-one was injured.
Harbour Master Captain Steven Young says the vessel should dock later this evening:
He added: "Passenger welfare is the priority and the plan is to disembark them as soon as possible. They are predominantly of Dutch nationality and the Dutch consul is going to be here to meet and greet them. And the plan would be to repatriate them as soon as possible."
