O’Neill continues scoring streak for Shels
04/05/2006 - 22:16:34Shelbourne 2 Drogheda United 1
Gary O’Neill scored for the fourth match running as Shelbourne ended leaders Drogheda’s unbeaten start to the season in style at Tolka Park.
Shels tore Drogheda apart early on, with Colin Hawkins twice coming close, before deservedly taking a 12th minute lead.
Midfielder Stuart Byrne wasn't picked up and duly arrived to head home Alan Moore’s free-kick.
O’Neill added the second with a superb glancing header from Liam Kearney’s cross on 72 minutes.
A goal from skipper Declan O’Brien on 89 minutes gave Drogheda hope but, Dean Delaney made a good stop from Keith Fahey in stoppage time to see Shels earn the most telling result of the season to date.
