Brothers to keep Dublin school open for one more year

04/05/2006 - 11:18:31
The Christian Brothers have agreed to keep St Michael's Primary School in the Inchicore area of Dublin open for another year.

The brothers made a sudden announcement earlier this year that the school would close next month due to falling pupil numbers and staffing difficulties.

They have now agreed to keep it open for another year to give parents time to make alternative arrangements.

The decision has been welcomed by local Labour Party TD Mary Upton, who said the Minister for Education must now ensure that all children in the area have a school to go to in 12 months' time.
