McKellen looks to retirement
The Lord of the Rings star Ian McKellen insists he will embrace retirement because acting is a constant source of stress.
The 66-year-old believes he only has 10 years of his career left, so is now extra careful when choosing roles.
He says: "I do feel that if I had to stop tomorrow for some reason - health, or if I had a relationship which meant I couldn't work, then I could do it very happily.
"I think 10 years more is probably all I've got, as someone who can nip on a plane and remember the lines and not fall over, so I'm very picky now.
"But I tell you, it's very sweet at 6.30pm in the evening when you're not working in the theatre. And not to get up early for a film… every part you play gives you grief. Everything's still a struggle.
"It's lovely not to have those things on your mind - deep worries, insecurities."
