ISEQ sees small gain

The ISEQ index of Irish shares is marginally up on its opening level, having seen a rise of 2.65 points.

In the financial sector, three of the heavy-hitters were among the most-traded stocks today. Bank of Ireland was down 10c to €14.75. AIB saw a 7c increase to €18.92 while Anglo Irish Bank was up 5c to €13.28. Irish Life and Permanent, meanwhile, fell 5c to €20.30.

The Financial Regulator today warned SSIA customers to carefully read all letters and forms they receive from their account providers before signing anything as the maturity date for the first accounts approaches.

No-frills airline Ryanair saw its stock chalk up a 5c gain to €6.75 after the company reported its highest-ever monthly passenger numbers for April of this year. Ryanair carried 3.44m passengers last month, the highest figure in the airline's history.

Construction company McInerney saw its stock rose 10c to €13.
