Bus crash death toll rises to 26
02/05/2006 - 11:33:38A bus plunged off a bridge into a dry river bed, killing at least 26 people in western India.
The bus was carrying more than 50 passengers travelling to Mumbai when it went off the bridge in the district of Thane, said a police officer.
He said 26 people had been killed when the driver apparently lost control of the speeding bus.
As many as 15 people were critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital, the officer said.
