18 dead in India bus plunge
02/05/2006 - 11:11:45A bus plunged off a bridge into a dry river bed, killing at least 18 people in western India.
The bus was carrying more than 50 passengers and travelling to Bombay when it went off the bridge in the district of Thane, said a police officer.
He said 18 people had been killed, but the NDTV news channel reported that 24 were dead.
As many as 10 people were critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital, the officer said.
