Curbishley 'needs a break'

02/05/2006 - 09:40:11
Alan Curbishley does not expect to be in charge of another club at the start of next season after leaving Charlton, although he refuses to rule it out.

Curbishley will leave the Addicks after 15 years in charge at the end of the season and has been linked with other clubs, notably Aston Villa.

However, the 48-year-old intends to spend time with his family before possibly making a return.

In his column in The Daily Express, Curbishley said: “I’m leaving Charlton because I need a break.

“Football has consumed me for 30 years: 15 as a player and then 15 in the most pressure-packed, demanding role: management.

“How long will I take off? I don’t know. I can’t see myself being at another club come August.

“But who knows…

“For me it is time to take a pause, have a holiday, recharge the batteries and then...who knows?”
