Event organisers say new laws will push up ticket prices
A company involved in organising concerts and sporting events has claimed new legislation will push up the price of tickets for music and sports fans.
The issue is one of a number being discussed at a two-day seminar hosted by the Aura Holohan Leisure Group in Tullamore, Co Offaly, this week.
The group says two pieces of legislation due to come into force in 2006 and 2007 will require promoters to meet the cost of obtaining indoor licences and to ensure that all stewards and security staff are properly licensed, trained and registered.
It also says the latest Garda Síochána Act allows the gardaí to charge promoters for providing services outside events.
Aura Holohan Leisure, which provides management and consultancy services to the likes of MCD and Aiken Promotions, says its clients will have no option but to recoup this cost by raising ticket prices.
