New initiative launched to increase renewable energy technology
01/05/2006 - 16:00:09A new initiative is being launched to up electricity production from renewable energy technology.
The Natural Resources Minister says the plan will double the contribution of renewable sources to the national grid by 2010.
Noel Dempsey says the extra capacity will supply the electricity needs of more than a quarter of a million homes.
And he says it will prevent the emission of more than one million tonnes of polluting greenhouse gases every year.
