Energy regulator considers new electricity billing system

30/04/2006 - 12:00:27
Electricity bills could be set to rise every two months instead of once a year under a new billing system being considered by the energy regulator.

The new proposals are designed to reflect the rise or fall of oil and gas prices.

The regulator is to hold a public consultation in the next two months to assess the feasibility of the system.

Under the scheme, increases could be changed as often as six times a year to coincide with the global price of energy on international markets.
