James set to play

28/04/2006 - 08:00:09
David James will shrug off a back complaint to maintain his ever-present record in the Barclays Premiership for Manchester City.

The England ‘keeper had been a doubt for tomorrow’s clash with Fulham at Eastlands but has told Blues boss Stuart Pearce he is fit to play, dashing Nicky Weaver’s hopes of his first senior start in almost three years.

After watching his side break their six-match losing sequence at Aston Villa on Tuesday, Pearce is expected to stick with the same starting line-up providing Joey Barton (knee) and Albert Riera (cramp) overcome minor niggles.

Provisional squad: James, Weaver, Mills, Sommeil, Dunne, Richards, Distin, Sun, Sinclair, Barton, Reyna, Riera, Musampa, Samaras, Vassell, Sibierski, Wright-Phillips, Croft.
