Derry come from behind to beat Waterford

Waterford United 1 Derry City 2

Stunning goals from Kevin Deery and Killian Brennan saw Derry come from behind on a dreadfully poor pitch at the RSC.

Having utterly dominated the first half, Derry found themselves a goal down on 38 minutes as they were punished for bad defending.

Both Chris Deans and Daryl Kavanagh failed to connect with Ian Fraher’s corner before Kenny Browne arrived at the back post to shoot to the roof of the net.

But Deery’s brilliant volley from 30 yards on 57 minutes had Derry level.

Deery then crossed for Brennan to fire in another unstoppable volley four minutes later for the winner to keep the Candystripes second in the table.
