Hundreds complain about Ryanair’s July 7 ad

26/04/2006 - 08:03:52
A Ryanair advertisement playing on the July 7 bomb attacks in London was one of the most complained about ads in Britain last year.

The British Advertising Standards Authority said yesterday that the London Fights Back ad had attracted more than 300 complaints of the 2,241 complaints made in 2005.

The advert was published eight days after the attacks on July 7 and attracted the fifth highest number of complaints during the year.

Complainants said it was offensive as it exploited the London terrorist attacks for commercial gain, but the ASA rejected the objections as the ad did not breach any rules.
