Two men in serious condition after separate assaults

Two men are in a serious condition in hospital following separate assaults in Waterford and Co Clare in the past two days.

A man in his 50s is being treated in Cork after he was assaulted in Lisdoonvarna yesterday morning.

The victim, who is believed to have suffered serious head injuries, was discovered by a passer-by on Main St in the town at around 2am.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old Co Kilkenny man is in the intensive care unit of Waterford Regional Hospital after he was assaulted in the city yesterday evening.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack, which happened just before 6pm.
