Shels spurn de Stefano interest
24/04/2006 - 12:25:32Shelbourne Football Club has turned down a proposed negotiation on the sale of the club with businessman Giovanni de Stefano after he spoke to the media about his intention to approach the club.
In a letter to Mr de Stefano, Shels' chief executive Oliver Byrne said he had been "astonished" that Mr de Stefano "chose to release details of (his) interest to the media in advance of any meeting taking place with Shelbourne FC".
Mt Byrne added: "Regrettably I do not believe that it is now possible for me to take your expression of interest any further."
The interest expressed by Mr de Stefano has prompted significant interest in the club, Mr Byrne said today, adding that all approaches would be pursued.
