Childline calls on the increase

The number of calls to Childline is increasing according to a new ISPCC report.

In 2005, the number of calls rose by 13% with a marked increase in calls relating to bullying and pregnancy.

Of about 700,000 calls made, Childline answered an average of one in three during the week and one in four at weekends.

More than 9% of these calls concerned sexual issues with almost 5% about pregnancy.

The remainder related to physical and sexual abuse.
