Kearney on target for Shels
22/04/2006 - 19:50:38UCD 1 Shelbourne 2
Liam Kearney scored his first goal for Shelbourne as his fluke moved them up to third in the Premier Division table.
Darren Quigley looked set to save Kearney’s dipping 25-yard volley, but the ball took a bad bounce and flashed through the UCD keeper’s hands to gift Shels the points.
Derek Doyle had stunned Shels with a quick-fire eqauliser on his first start of the season.
Shels’ much improved second half display brought them the lead when Gary O’Neill’s brilliant 71st header from Ollie Cahill’s sublime cross beat Quigley.
But UCD hit back to level within two minutes when Doyle met substitute Stephen Hurley’s deep cross to get in a firm header that Dean Delaney got a hand to but couldn’t keep out as it dropped in behind him and over the line.
