Consumer survey shows lack of confidence in banks

22/04/2006 - 08:55:56
A new consumer survey shows a serious lack of confidence in our banks and building societies.

The results showed that 78% feel banks don't do a good job in explaining investments.

The survey indicated that one in five people have no knowledge of interest rates on their current or savings accounts.

It is hoped a major consumer finance event which takes place at the RDS today will help inform people.

Spokesperson Caroline Malone says people have little confidence in their banks: “There is a general unhappiness in the service we are getting and I think there is a certain amount of inertia out there but it is going back to the fact that everybody is time-poor.”
