John Hayes earned Waterford a point tonight with double goalline stop to bring them off the foot of the Eircom Premier League table, albeit on goal difference ahead of Bray.

Des Baker looked set to break the deadlock on 57 minutes in a much improved second half, but Hayes blocked his shot not once, but twice.

That came just minutes after Blues deserved a lead at the other end from the best bit of football of the night.

Darren Young, Thomas Hawkins and Gavin Doyle combined to set up James Chambers, but Town keeper Shay Kelly made a terrific fingertip save.
