Lucey Limerick's only change

21/04/2006 - 16:08:47
Former dual player Stephen Lucey has made the Limerick line-up for Sunday's NHL Division One semi-final clash with Clare (Semple Stadium, throw-in 1.30pm).

A doctor at the Limerick Regional Hospital, Lucey will hope to knife through the Clare defence and lead the Shannonsiders to their first League final appearance since 1997.

Mark O'Riordan makes way for Lucey, who hit a point when coming off the bench in the 0-21 to 0-14 victory over Waterford last weekend, at centre forward.

Lucey has made three starts in the League this season, scoring against Antrim (0-01) and Laois (0-02), but failing to register a point against champions Kilkenny.

Joe McKenna's Limerick side are still unbeaten this season after 14 matches - six in the National League, four in their successful Waterford Crystal Cup run and four challenge matches.

January saw Limerick run out as 1-14 to 0-13 winners against Clare in their Waterford Crystal Cup semi-final meeting. Top-scoring corner forward Mark Keane landed 0-07 (6f) that day, whilst midfielder Donal O'Grady chipped in with 1-02.

LIMERICK (NHL v Clare) - B Murray; D Reale, TJ Ryan, M Foley; O Moran, B Geary, D O’Grady; P O’Grady, D Ryan; M O’Brien, S Lucey, C Fitzgerald; A O’Shaughnessy, B Begley, M Keane.
