ISEQ on the level

The ISEQ index of Irish shares stayed more or less level this morning, up just 1.89 points on opening to 7830.57.

IT solutions company Iona Technologies stayed level on €3.28 after the company announced a net loss of $600,000 (€486,000) in its first quarter of 2006. First quarter revenues were at $16.9m (€13.7m).

Meanwhile, no-frills airline Ryanair saw a 3c drop in its share price to €7 this morning. The airline has accused aviation agency ENAC of "anti-competitive favouritism towards Italian carriers" after the body banned the airline from operating flights on the its Rome (Ciampino) - Alghero route after May 1.

Tullow Oil saw an 11c surge to €5.91 after world oil prices reached record highs today.

In the financial sector, Anglo Irish Bank and Irish Life and Permanent each saw 6c increases, up to €13.11 and €19.61 respectively.

Bank of Ireland fell by the same margin to €14.52 while AIB was down 1c to €18.69.
