Eminem mourns best friend at funeral
Eminem remembered his best friend and fellow rapper Proof during an emotionally charged funeral service today, telling hundreds of mourners packed inside a Detroit church that “without Proof, there would be no Eminem, no Slim Shady.”
The funeral programme said the two men shared the “friendship of a lifetime.”
Proof was shot and killed last week during an altercation at an after-hours club.
Another member of Eminem’s inner circle – rapper Obie Trice – was shot and wounded while driving on a Detroit-area highway in December.
Trice was also in attendance at today’s funeral and delivered a serious message to those in attendance.
“I want to talk to the black men living in the hood. … We’re killing each other, and it’s about nothing,” he said.
Police say Proof shot another man before he was shot to death himself.
