Seven killed in Baghdad bomb blast

18/04/2006 - 10:15:48
A bomb placed underneath a car exploded in eastern Baghdad today, killing at least seven people and wounding more than 20.

The bomb targeted a police patrol in the neighbourhood of Suleikh, said police Capt. Ali al-Obeidi. Three policemen were among those killed, and the rest civilians, he said.

A roadside bombing in western Baghdad missed another police patrol, wounding a civilian driver instead.

In the Dora district of southern Baghdad, police discovered two bodies, both shot in the head. Twelve other bodies were found in the same neighbourhood yesterday.

In a drive-by shooting, assailants gunned down a police officer walking near his home in the southern city of Basra.
