Test results due from dead seagulls found in Co Cork

18/04/2006 - 07:16:15
The results of bird-flu tests on nine seagulls found dead in Co Cork over the weekend are expected to be known later today.

The birds were removed from the sea near Clonakilty on Sunday afternoon and yesterday morning and are being tested for bird flu as a precaution.

The Department of Agriculture has said it does not believe the deaths are any cause for concern.

Hundreds of dead birds found in various parts of the country have been tested for bird flu in recent months, but so far, no case of the virus has been found in Ireland.
