Rising oil prices set to push up petrol and diesel costs

Petrol and diesel prices in Ireland are expected to rise in the coming weeks amid ongoing unrest over Iran's nuclear programme.

International oil prices have risen as high as $72-a-barrel today due to fears that the situation could result in a military conflict.

Motorists are being warned to expect rises in the price of petrol and diesel as a result.

Prices in general could also rise as businesses pass on their increased costs to the consumer.
