NIB announces €70m restructuring of banking services

National Irish Bank has announced a €70m restructuring of its banking services following its takeover by Danske Bank last year.

NIB is adopting the Danish bank's IT system, which will allow it to offer customers a range of services that are currently unavailable in the Irish market.

These services include online stock-exchange trading and a free text-messaging service.

NIB also said today that it was planning to open 15 new branches across the country over the next three years at a cost of €20m.
