Six children die as wall collapses

16/04/2006 - 17:03:05
A factory wall collapsed today killing six children and injuring five others in a farming village in northwestern Pakistan, police said.

The children were playing near the mud-and-stone wall in Sher Garh, a village about 37 miles northeast of Peshawar, the capital of North West Frontier Province, when it came down, police official Sardar Khan said.

The foundation of the wall weakened from moisture in the ground, Khan said.

Six children died at the scene while the five injured were taken to a hospital with multiple injuries – one of them in serious condition, Khan said. The children were between three and 11 years old.
