Karasi jumps to repeat win

Karasi made history as he became the first foreign raider to win back-to-back runnings of the world’s richest steeplechase, the Nakayama Grand Jump in Japan.

The 11-year-old, who raced on the Flat for Michael Stoute until 1998, was well fancied for the 170million yen (€1.2m) event after his length-and-a-quarter success last year.

He duly obliged for Australian trainer Eric Musgrove and rider Brett Scott as he beat local favourite TM Dragon by a neck in the two-mile-five-furlong event.

Fellow home-trained runner Telegenic was a further seven lengths back in third.
