Cork hospital closed to visitors due to winter vomiting bug

A number of new cases of the winter vomiting bug have been confirmed at Cork University hospital in the past 24 hours.

The hospital has put a complete ban in place on all visitors over Easter, particularly children, in an effort to contain the bug.

CUH management said the bug is highly contagious and restrictions are necessary to stop it spreading in the hospital where a number of adult wards are currently affected.

Only relatives of patients who are critically ill will are being permitted access to the hospital.
