Grant put on weight trying to slim down
14/04/2006 - 09:38:58Hugh Grant is baffled by the fuller figure he sports in new movie American Dreamz, because he tried to slim down for the part.
The British actor, who plays a talent show judge in the American Idol satire, admits he misunderstood the idea of healthy eating and accidentally piled on the pounds.
Grant, 45, says: "I got fatter than I've ever been in my life but the irony is I was trying to get thin.
"I thought I'd just eat health bars because I couldn't find any food I liked in LA but I didn't realise they had six billion calories in each one and that's why I'm so jowly in my latest film."
