300,000 bank holiday passengers for Dublin Airport

14/04/2006 - 07:08:21
Around 300,000 people will pass through Dublin Airport during the busy Easter bank holiday – a 20% increase over the same period last year.

With most passengers jetting off for breaks in the sun, more than 1,900 flights will arrive and depart between Friday and Monday.

A spokeswoman for the airport said the most popular sun destinations this weekend are the Canary Islands of Lanzarote and Tenerife along with trips to mainland Spain.

Passengers are being advised to arrive at check-in at least 90 minutes before their flight is due to leave, but they were also warned not to try to check-in three or more hours before their flight as the desks will not be open so far in advance.

With strict security checks in operation, people were asked to head straight through the screening areas after checking in.
