Wachman waits with Fuego
David Wachman could send El Fuego to the Stan James 2000 Guineas without the benefit of a prep run.
The Fusaichi Pegasus colt, who is owned the Coolmore outfit, won his only start at Fairyhouse last August and also holds entries in the Irish 2000 Guineas, the Vodafone Derby and the Irish Derby at the Curragh.
“I like this horse,” said Wachman. “Hopefully he will go forward this year and vindicate my entries for him.
“Good ground is a must for him and in Ireland that doesn’t seem to be possible at the minute.
“I was going to aim him directly for the Guineas at Newmarket but we will play it by ear as he’s a little bit behind.
“He’s a possible (for the Guineas). We will see how he is.
“On his pedigree you would imagine he wants further.”
El Fuego is a 25-1 chance with Coral for the 2000 Guineas.
