Nicholls considers Cheltenham options
Paul Nicholls is likely to attempt to saddle the winner of the £50,000 (€72,400) Faucets For Mira Showers Silver Trophy Chase for the third time in five years at Cheltenham next Wednesday.
Nicholls has landed the Grade Two limited handicap with Fadalko (2002) and Poliantas (2003) and has four possibles this time.
Le Roi Miguel, runner-up to Quazar in the two-mile-five-furlong contest 12 months ago, is one the champion-trainer elect is considering after being pulled up before the 19th fence in the John Smith’s Grand National.
“We’ll try and find something for the Faucets Trophy Chase, but it all depends on the ground and where they are next week,” said the Ditcheat-based handler.
“Le Roi Miguel, Cornish Rebel, Sweet Diversion and Le Volfoni could all get an entry at this stage.
“Le Roi Miguel ran in the Grand National on Saturday but didn’t get the trip on the ground and was pulled up. He’s come out of the race fine though and is 100%.
“This race would be more suitable for him. He was second to Quazar in it last year and I would be hopeful of a decent run.”
