Shots fired during security van raid in Dublin

11/04/2006 - 10:13:09
Gardaí are investigating the attempted robbery of a security van in Dublin city centre this morning, during which two shots were fired.

The van was delivering cash to an ATM in the Ilac Centre when two armed men pulled up beside it on Liffey Street West at around 8.30am and opened fire on the vehicle.

The men fled empty-handed a short time later in a silver Nissan Almeira.

Nobody was injured during the attempted robbery, which happened as retailers in the area were opening their doors for the day.

The targeted van is currently being forensically examined at Store Street Garda Station.
