Govt expands scheme to tackle disadvantage
11/04/2006 - 13:08:49The Government has announced plans to expand the CLAR programme designed to tackle disadvantage and population decline in rural areas.
The programme is being expanded to include a number of new areas in Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Laois and Offaly.
An additional €9m is also being allocated to the scheme, while the credentials for eligibility are being loosened to include areas that experienced population decline of more than 35% between 1926 and 2002.
