Pavarotti postpones gigs because of back pain
11/04/2006 - 19:52:00Luciano Pavarotti has postponed eight concerts on his world farewell tour because of back pain.
The 70-year-old tenor has been advised not to travel or perform while he is being treated in New York for a ”painful condition in his lower back”, Pavarotti’s London-based spokeswoman, Terri Robson, said in a statement today.
After his treament ends in late May, Pavarotti will resume his tour in Canada on June 3, Ms Robson said.
Concerts will now be held in Helsinki, Finland, September 2; Oslo, Norway, September 5; Vienna, Austria, September 10; Zurich, Switzerland, September 16; and Lisbon, Portugal, September 29.
New dates will be set for postponed concerts in Brazil, Chile and Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ms Robson said.
