Banderas denies Griffith alcoholism
11/04/2006 - 14:14:18Actor Antonio Banderas has dismissed ongoing speculation his wife Melanie Griffith is dependent on alcohol.
The actress prompted furious debate after a photo of her attending an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting appeared on the front cover of the National Enquirer recently.
She was reported to have confessed to a drug relapse.
However, her actor husband insists the rumours are tired and unfounded, insisting there was a perfectly innocent explanation for her appearance.
He says: "My wife has been an alcoholic her whole life, or so AA says, and she's been going to meeting for years. They're just trying to make a story. Whatever.
"She's sponsoring people now. It's just a normal thing."
