Galway continue winning run

A depleted Down side, were well off the pace at Newcastle as Galway galloped to their fourth league win on the bounce.
The Tribesmen crept up to second in Division 1B to set up a mouth-watering Division One semi-final against neighbours Mayo.
In poor conditions, Michael Meehan’s 23rd-minute goal, carved out by Derek Savage’s run in from the right, helped the visitors to a 1-05 to 0-02 half-time lead. Padraig Joyce kicked three points in the first half-hour.
It was left to wing back Adrian Scullion to lead the Down scoring with a point in each half.
