GAA players to stage protest today

Players will stage a 15-minute sit-in ahead of all inter-county GAA matches today.

The move comes following last week's extraordinary general meeting of the Gaelic Players Association (GPA), where a threat of a strike next weekend was averted.

A strike could still be called during the Championship if a list of six demands - including government grants for inter-county players, a new player-welfare audit system, and formal recognition of the GPA - are not met by the GAA.
