Gunmen take hostage at fast food outlet

Two armed men wearing T-shirts with “Turkey” written on them took a hostage at a popular Burger King restaurant in Istanbul today and then released him.

One of the armed men could be seen waving a gun, grabbing his shirt and yelling “I want to be a martyr!” according to a photographer at the scene.

The reasons for the hostage situation were not immediately clear.

Television footage showed one young man in a red and white T-shirt, brandishing a handgun near the doorway of a Burger King and yelling at a crowd of police and onlookers.
