US using Shannon in heavy-arms sales - report
08/04/2006 - 08:53:19American authorities have reportedly used Shannon airport to transport Apache attack helicopters for use by Israel.
According to a report in today's Irish Independent, the Department of Foreign Affairs has launched an investigation into the incident.
The paper claims that a cargo plane carrying three Boeing Apache helicopters stopped overnight in Shannon on February 27.
The article also states that this is the first time it has been revealed that Ireland helps facilitate American heavy-arms sales.
