Unions to merge
07/04/2006 - 15:14:00The Federation of Government Employees (FUGE) is to merge with IMPACT to form the country's largest public sector trade union.
The FUGE vote was carried by a 90% majority.
Over 1,200 workers employed in Government departments belong to the union, while IMPACT represents over 55,000 members in the civil service, health, local government, education and State agencies.
FUGE General Secretary Mick Coffey said the merger would deliver a better service to his members.
