Abbas condemns bombing of his Gaza compound
04/04/2006 - 18:39:12Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today condemned the Israeli missile attack on his presidential compound in Gaza.
“The continuous random bombarding in Gaza is not justified. It wants nothing but to disrupt daily life of Palestinian people,” he said.
Abbas was in the West Bank at the time.
Two police officers at the largely abandoned compound were wounded.
The attack was the first time Israel has targeted a security installation since the militant Islamic Hamas took control of the Palestinian government.
Abbas said the attacks had nothing to do with Hamas and were aimed at “destruction for the sake of destruction.”
