St Pat's 'will only move with fans' backing'

The St Patrick's Athletic board has insisted that the club will only leave their Richmond Park home if the supporters back the move.

With state funding only available to Dublin clubs who intend on ground-sharing, Pats have been forced into looking at the possibility of leaving Richmond Park.

Moving to Tallaght to share with Shamrock Rovers has been the most common suggestion, though plenty of supporters are unsure about leaving Inchicore leading to the formation of the fans’ pressure group Pats for Richmond.

However, in an open letter to fans responding to a letter from the supporters’ group, club secretary Stephen Connelly insisted that the wishes of supporters would be crucial to any decision.

Connelly stated: “Obviously the supporters contribute significantly in both financial and non-financial ways and their wishes will be a huge factor in any decision.”
