Paisley stands by contract decision

01/04/2006 - 09:52:07
Longford Town defender Stephen Paisley has insisted he had no doubts that it was the right decision to sign a new contract last month.

Paisley commited to another two years at Flancare Park even though the team lost four first-team regulars from last season.

Sean Dillon, Stephen O'Brien, Barry Ferguson and Shane Barrett all left the club, though Paisley believes that Town can still compete with the best.

Paisley said: "Of course it was disappointing to see so many quality players leave, becaue they had been quite influential for us.

"But luckily we were able to bring in other lads. We have a decent bunch of players and I am very hopeful for the future."
