Chelsea's Johnson set for surgery
30/03/2006 - 12:01:49Chelsea full-back Glen Johnson will undergo hernia surgery in Germany today.
The 21-year-old, who has struggled to establish himself in the first team for the Barclays Premiership champions, is expected to return to fitness before the end of the season.
“With modern surgical techniques and the fine medical staff Chelsea has in place, there is confidence that he will be playing very quickly and be available for games before the end of the season,” read a statement on official website chelseafc.com.
Johnson enjoyed a spell in Chelsea’s starting XI in January and February, earning the defender a recall into the England under-21 squad for a friendly against Norway.
