Abbot inspect
30/03/2006 - 16:10:37Sunday’s meeting at Newton Abbot is subject to an 11am inspection on Friday.
Officials at the Devon venue will determine the prospects of racing in the morning after incessant rainfall left the course heavy, waterlogged in places.
“We walked the course this afternoon and decided that calling an inspection, as Jockey Club regulations stipulate, would be the best thing to do,” said Newton Abbot managing director Pat Masterson.
“The forecast is for further rainfall but we’ll know more tomorrow.
“We are desperate to race though and are keeping our fingers crossed the forecast is wrong.”
The six-race card is scheduled to begin at 2.20pm.
