Search underway for crew of sunken trawler

30/03/2006 - 07:44:35
Rescuers in Co Wexford are searching for two fishermen missing following the sinking of their trawler late last night.

The Maggie B is believed to have sent out a distress signal around five miles south of Hook Head just after 11pm.

Lifeboats were launched and one of the three men on board, a Polish national, was rescued from the water around half an hour later suffering from hypothermia.

However, there was no sign of the other two crewmen, one of whom is believed to be from Ballycotton, Co Cork, and the other from Poland.

A major air and sea search is now underway involving the LE Ciara, lifeboats from Dunmore East and Kilmore Quay and the Dublin-based coastguard helicopter.
